Pathology
Pathology is the specialty that investigates the origin, causes, development and consequences of diseases. To do this, structural changes in tissues and cells are examined in biopsy samples taken from body tissues and fluids. After detailed macroscopic examination, biopsy samples arriving at our pathology laboratory are processed with state-of-the-art tissue processors, paraffin embedding and sectioning devices. These samples are diagnosed under the microscope as quickly as possible and the result is reported to the relevant physician, minimising lost time and allowing the necessary treatment to begin without delay. When needed during surgery, intraoperative histopathological (frozen section) diagnosis can be made; we provide this service with our state-of-the-art cryostat.

In addition to histopathological examinations, our laboratory also performs routine cytological examinations such as vaginal-cervical smears, sputum and samples taken from all body fluids. In the radiology department, fine needle aspiration biopsies taken under USG or CT guidance from organs and tissues such as the breast, thyroid, lung, liver, lymph nodes, salivary glands and soft tissue masses are examined during the procedure to determine whether they are sufficient for diagnosis. This way, the patient does not need to undergo the same procedure a second time. After the samples undergo the necessary technical processing, a diagnosis is made as quickly as possible. Our pathology laboratory also provides diagnostic and consultation services for biopsies, cytology samples, prepared slides and paraffin blocks coming from outside the hospital. Upon request, both macroscopic and microscopic digital image records can be provided.
