In our laboratory, routine cytological examinations, such as vaginal-cervical smear, sputum, and all body fluid examinations, are performed along with the histopathologic studies. Ultrasound- or CT-guided fine needle aspiration biopsy specimens are collected from organs and tissues, including but not limited to breast, thyroid, lung, liver, lymph node, salivary gland and soft tissue masses, in the radiology department and they are reviewed during the procedure to determine whether there is sufficient material to make a diagnosis. Thus, the procedure is not unnecessarily repeated. After the specimens are duly processed, the diagnosis is made as soon as possible. Our pathology laboratory also provides diagnosis and consultation services for biopsy specimens, cytology samples, preprocessed preparations and paraffin blocks referred from other institutions or patients. If requested, macroscopic and microscopic digital images are provided.
