Specialized and experienced doctors use all means of technology for early diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Cervical cancer is the most common second cause of death in women following the breast cancer. Cervical cancer is a preventable disease, as it originates from a known etiologic factor (human papilloma virus – HPV) and it is a sexually transmitted disease. The high-risk types of human papilloma virus are identified in 99% of cervical cancers. A Pap smear test enables early diagnosis and thus, chance of survival is substantially boosted. Vaccines have been used for preventing the cervical cancers and warts that are caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) in 99% of the cases. The quadrivalent vaccine developed for types 16 and 18 accounting for 70% of the cancer cases and types 6 and 11 accounting for 90% of the warts is also used in our country. HPV vaccines are administered in our hospital.
Colposcopy;
It is microscope that can magnify the view of the cervix by 6 to 40 times. Colposcopy is used for diagnosis of the cervical cancer as an advanced examination method by experienced physicians at our hospital. Moreover, safe methods are used for Human Papilloma Virus screening. In addition to those standard diagnostic methods; vaginal ultrasound, Doppler and hysteroscopy offers means of earlier diagnosis and treatment in gynecologic cancers. Thus, cervical, endometrial, ovarian and breast cancers are no more a source of concern for patients who are regularly screened. Colposcopy is also used for management of patients who are diagnosed with SIL, CIN and ASCUS on the cervical smear specimens.
