Asst. Prof. Dr. Canan KOCAMAN (F)

Dr. Canan Kocaman works as a specialist in Pediatric Health and Diseases and Child Neurology. She completed her medical education at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, her specialization training in Pediatric Health and Diseases at Bakırköy Children and Women’s Hospital, and her subspecialty training at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine. During her mandatory service in Diyarbakır, she worked as the only Child Neurologist serving 11 provinces in the region. She organized courses on neonatal neurology and neuromuscular diseases aimed at training pediatricians in the region. She has certifications in training particularly focused on the neurological follow-up of high-risk infants and general movement analysis. She has a special interest in this field. Additionally, she is a practitioner of the Ketogenic diet treatment for Resistant Epilepsies, which is implemented at Johns Hopkins University in the USA, and she is particularly involved with patients suffering from resistant epilepsy. She is the founder of the high-risk infant and early intervention unit at Metin Sabancı Foundation for Spastic Children. Here, she has organized congresses as a member of the academic board and participated in scientific projects. She has 11 international articles and 22 national articles in her field, along with 3 national book chapters and 1 international translation of a children’s neurology book. She has presented 48 oral presentations and poster studies at various national and international congresses. She teaches English and Turkish to medical students as a part-time lecturer at Okan University Faculty of Medicine. She also provides consultation and outpatient services as a Child Neurology subspecialist to many universities and hospitals.
