Procedures carried out in our Dermatology Department
- Cryotherapy:This method is sometimes referred to as cold therapy or gas spray therapy. It is modern and simple procedure used to treat a large variety of skin diseases, notable warts. The procedure does not require local anesthesia, is fast and can safely be applied to children.
- Electrocauterization:This method, sometimes called heat therapy, is applied under local anesthesia. It is advantageous as it gives result in a single session.
- Skin biopsy:A procedure in which skin tissue is cut and removed under local anesthesia and pathologically tested for definitive diagnosis.
- Dermatoscopy:A diagnostic method applied for the diagnosis of skin diseases, notably moles and skin cancers.
- Wood’s Light:A device popularly known as blue light used in the diagnosis of diseases such as fungal diseases, vitiligo or melasma.
- Laser Hair Removal:This procedure is applied with an Alexandrite device to remove unwanted black and brown hair, in hygienic environment under control of a medical specialist.
- Pulsed Dye Laser:A laser efficient in treating congenital or acquired vascular nevi. The procedure is applied under general anesthesia in children and in adults if desired. Pulsed Dye Laser is also used for skin rejuvenation without scarring. Favorable results are also obtained in acne, burns and scars.
- Testing for allergies: The prick test can be used to detect food or environmental allergens. Results can be obtained in just 20 minutes. The patch test is used to detect allergens that cause contact dermatitis. It involves applying patches to a person’s back, which are then assessed after 48 and 96 hours.
- Chemical Peeling:A procedure in which glycolic acid is applied to the skin for rejuvenation. It is applied in total 4 sessions every fortnight in gradually increasing concentrations (20-35-50-70 %).
- Skin cleansing:A procedure where the skin pores are opened up with steam to cleanse the skin of blackheads, cystic acne, keratin cysts and sebaceous cysts.
- Dermarolling:Also referred to as microneedling, this procedure involves rolling a small wheel that has hundreds of tiny needles over the face to gently prick the skin, followed by applying special serums and masks.
- PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma):In this procedure, growth factors obtained from the patient’s own blood are used for skin rejuvenation and hair loss treatment.
- Mesotherapy:A technique that uses micro-injections of various substances to repair, nourish and rejuvenate skin and hair.
- Intralesional injection:Direct injection of a therapeutic substance, notably cortisone, into the skin to treat skin diseases like keloid or alopecia areata.
- Nail removal:This procedure is used to treat cases where drug treatment is not effective, especially ingrown toenails.
- Abscess drainage:Draining of lesions filled with pus under local anesthesia in the intervention room.
