Endoscopy is one of the key methods for the differential diagnosis of ulcers and similar diseases of the digestive system, as well as digestive system cancers.
ERCP
Stones that block the bile ducts and cause jaundice can be removed by endoscopic methods, allowing obstructive jaundice to be treated. In jaundice caused by tumors that develop in the bile ducts and at the head of the pancreas, treatment is also possible by placing a stent in the bile ducts. For strictures that develop in the bile ducts, diagnosis and treatment can be carried out in a short time without the need for surgery, using the ERCP method, which is performed orally by entering the bile ducts through the opening of the bile duct in the duodenum.
Diagnostic Gastroscopy
This is one of the methods used to diagnose diseases of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. The examination is performed by inserting a thin, flexible tube with a sensitive micro-camera at its tip through the mouth. A tissue sample is taken (biopsy) with a thin wire passed through the gastroscope; with the sample, a urease test (Clotest, HP-Fast test) is performed to screen for Helicobacter pylori. In addition, polyps can be removed (polypectomy), and bleeding can be stopped by intervening in bleeding ulcers or bleeding areas (sclerotherapy, gold probe, etc.).
Diagnostic Colonoscopy
This is a procedure in which the large intestine, the small intestine and the parts close to the large intestine are visualized by inserting a thin, flexible tube with a camera at its tip through the rectum. It is used in the diagnosis of colon cancer, in detecting and removing precancerous colon lesions such as polyps, and in the diagnosis and follow-up of inflammatory diseases of the large intestine such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
Therapeutic Endoscopic Procedures
Polypectomy in the esophagus, stomach, duodenum and large intestine, sclerotherapy of bleeding areas
Esophageal balloon dilation and stent placement
Band ligation of esophageal varices
Treatment of morbid obesity with intragastric balloon placement
Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) and jejunostomy placement
