Smiling Freely Is in Your Hands...

If your gums show a lot when you smile, if your teeth are not as white and even as you would like; most importantly, if you want a confident and more aesthetic smile, laminate veneers may be a good option for you…

We discussed aesthetic dentistry with Dt. Banu Okur Çakmakcı, Specialist in the Oral and Dental Health Department at Hisar Hospital Intercontinental…

Emphasizing that dentistry serves aesthetic purposes as well as oral and dental health, Dt. Çakmakcı said: ‘The most commonly used treatment in aesthetic dentistry, also known as porcelain laminate, is veneers (laminate veneer). In this method, unlike other porcelain tooth methods, very little enamel tissue is removed from the tooth and the tooth sustains less damage. Porcelain laminates are made of strong, color-stable and durable materials. Very thin, light-transmitting and metal-free, these porcelains allow for more aesthetic results. Thus, a healthy and natural appearance is achieved in a very short time with a minor procedure.’

Am I a Suitable Candidate for Dental Aesthetics?

If your gums show a lot when you smile,

If you have structural defects in your teeth,

If you are not satisfied with gaps between your teeth,

If you have crowded teeth but wish to avoid orthodontic treatment,

If discoloration of your teeth has not decreased sufficiently for you despite tooth whitening methods,

If you have old, large fillings on your front teeth,

If the surfaces of your teeth are worn,

If you have broken teeth,

Most importantly, if you want a brand-new smile.

If your answer to any of these items is yes, you may benefit from dental aesthetic treatments.

How Is It Done?

First, impressions of your teeth are taken. A trial work is carried out in the laboratory, showing the changes that will occur in your teeth in 3D, without any intervention on your teeth. Treatment begins with a joint decision made with your dentist. Under local anesthesia, your teeth are reduced to a certain extent, impressions are taken, and temporary teeth are prepared. The laminate veneers are then awaited as they come back from the laboratory. The incoming veneers are placed in your mouth and their compatibility with your mouth and face is checked. If expectations are met, they are bonded with special adhesives. Laminate veneers are much more resistant to staining and wear. If you maintain good and regular oral hygiene, avoid biting very hard foods and bad habits such as nail biting, you can use laminate veneers trouble-free for 15-20 years. Even so, you need to be checked by your dentist every 4-5 years. Thus, you will prevent possible problems from arising.
