Toluy Özgümüş

Specialist Dr. Toluy Özgümüş graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2008 and completed residency in internal medicine at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital between 2009 and 2013. Subspecialty training in hematology was completed at the Division of Hematology of Marmara University between 2014 and 2017, followed by compulsory service at Kars Harakani State Hospital between 2017 and 2019. Between 2019 and 2023, Dr. Özgümüş worked at Sancaktepe Şehit Prof. Dr. İlhan Varank Training and Research Hospital.

Experienced in bleeding and clotting disorders, primarily thrombophilia, Dr. Özgümüş has diagnosed and treated more than 1,000 patients. Having worked at the pandemic hospital on the Anatolian side of Istanbul during the pandemic, Dr. Özgümüş has extensive experience with the hematological findings of Covid-19 infection and the management of Covid-19 in hematological diseases. Dr. Özgümüş has experience with hundreds of patients in the diagnosis and treatment of myeloproliferative diseases such as polycythemia vera and essential thrombocythemia, and in distinguishing them from elevated blood counts due to other, frequently confused causes, as well as experience in the diagnosis and full treatment of rare hematological cancers such as multiple myeloma, acute and chronic leukemias, lymphomas and histiocytoses, and in bone marrow transplantation.
