About the Department
The scope, approach and highlighted services of the department.
In recent years, with laser technology also beginning to be used in the field of gynecology, encouraging results have started to be achieved in providing non-surgical solutions to many problems. In cases that increase intra-abdominal pressure, such as laughing, coughing, or lifting heavy objects, and that cause urine leakage due to the drooping of the bladder neck, laser has become the first choice because it can be applied without surgery, allows the person to return to daily life immediately after the procedure, carries no surgical complications, and does not create an obstacle for those planning to give birth in the future. Surgical treatments are now regarded as a last resort.
Laser treatment also treats recurrent infections
Thanks to laser applied inside the vagina, it can treat looseness in the vagina, skin deterioration, negative changes due to menopause, recurrent vaginal infections, and vaginal dryness due to menopause, as well as providing a solution to urinary incontinence caused by laxity. When the vagina, which becomes prone to infections due to widening and deterioration of its anatomical structure, is corrected with laser treatment, recurrent infections are also treated. Furthermore, this same widening can cause negative effects on a person's sexual life, and non-surgical laser applications rank first as a solution. In laser treatments, which have very high patient satisfaction, repeated sessions may be needed depending on the collagen structure, which can vary from person to person.
As the drooping of the bladder neck is treated, the urinary incontinence problem is also resolved.
In the laser procedure, the connective tissue structure is strengthened by stimulating the subcutaneous collagen tissue. The vagina returns to its normal structure. The increase in collagen tissue thickens the subcutaneous collagen in the vagina and causes tightening. Likewise, when this increase in collagen tissue is applied to the bladder neck and urinary outlet area, the drooping of the bladder neck caused by tissue laxity is treated, and the urinary incontinence problem is also resolved.
Other causes that may lead to urinary incontinence also need to be investigated
Loss of collagen in the vagina may be related to past illnesses, genetic structure, childbirth, smoking, menopause and other hormonal changes, diabetes, and certain similar systemic diseases. In order for laser treatment of urinary incontinence to be performed, other causes that may lead to urinary incontinence apart from urinary incontinence due to tissue drooping must also be investigated, and if present, treatment planning targeting these causes is also necessary.
Controlling weight problems and chronic diseases is essential!
Weight control, treatment of chronic diseases, correction of urological problems, treatment of any infections, hormone replacement in menopausal patients, discontinuation of contraindicated medications, and resolution of neurological problems are treatment steps that are also achieved by looking at the urinary incontinence problem from a broad perspective.
You should consult your doctor to choose the most suitable treatment for you
Laser treatments in gynecology are also used for treating cervical wounds, for vaginal and skin rejuvenation, for some skin diseases such as scleroderma, for recurrent vaginal infections, for cracks caused by pregnancy, for treating scars from childbirth and sutures, for labia majora aesthetics and skin tone lightening, and for the treatment of genital pain (vulvodynia).
