The World Health Organization warns everyone travelling to high-risk areas to follow general hygiene rules when visiting farms, markets, barns and other places where animals are present, to wash their hands regularly before and after contact with animals, to avoid contact with sick animals, and not to consume raw or undercooked animal products.
