Neurology · 1:06
What is vertigo, what causes it, and how is it treated? Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yavuz Selim Yıldırım answered all these questions. "Vertigo means dizziness. Our eyes, ears, cerebellum, blood pressure and deep sensation work together to maintain balance. Mismatches between them present as dizziness. The most common cause of vertigo is usually the ear. Among these, displaced crystals, increased inner ear pressure, nerve inflammation and fluid leakage from the ear are listed among the frequent causes of dizziness. As a diagnostic method, the diagnosis can easily be made with a computer-assisted test we call VNG. In addition to surgical treatment options, it is possible to treat this disease easily, quickly, effectively and permanently with medication and maneuvers."
