It has been proven that the application of Botulinum Toxin type A reduces the frequency of migraine headaches. In 8 out of every 10 patients who receive the injection, a reduction of more than 50% is observed during the painful period compared to the period before treatment. The quality of life of these patients has increased considerably. Disability rates related to headaches have decreased. The Botulinum Toxin injection is given to 7 regions and 31 points in the head and neck area. An additional 8 points may also be treated. These regions are the forehead, both temples, the back of the head, the nape of the neck and the neck area. The injection takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Afterwards, redness and swelling may occur. Ice application can be done. For it to be effective, it needs to be renewed every 6 months to 1 year. It is mostly not recommended for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, people using blood thinners and people with open wounds.
