Asst. Prof. Dr. Faruk Gençoğlu began his medical education at Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine. He continued his academic career in 2015 at the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Institute of Cardiology, and in 2020 he completed his residency and received the title of Cardiovascular Surgery Specialist.
During his residency at the Cerrahpaşa Institute of Cardiology, he trained at a high-volume center where advanced surgical procedures are performed and gained extensive clinical and surgical experience in all core and advanced areas of adult cardiovascular surgery. During and after this period, he actively took part in approximately 3,000 adult cardiovascular surgery cases.
At the heart of Asst. Prof. Dr. Faruk Gençoğlu’s professional practice are minimally invasive, endoscopic and robotic cardiac surgery and advanced endovascular vascular treatments. He has performed surgical procedures in a wide range of patients, particularly in coronary bypass surgery, heart valve diseases (mitral, aortic and tricuspid), aortic surgery, carotid surgery, peripheral vascular diseases, venous insufficiency and deep vein thrombosis. He has advanced experience especially in off-pump (beating heart) coronary bypass surgery, advanced minimally invasive techniques and endovascular aortic interventions.
He is one of the pioneers of advanced minimally invasive cardiac surgery methods that can be performed by a limited number of centers and surgeons in Türkiye. In this context, he is:
one of the few physicians able to perform ascending aortic surgery using the minimally invasive (endoscopic) method,
and, as one of the limited number of surgeons performing aortic valve surgery with a minimally invasive approach, he holds a distinguished position nationally in minimally invasive cardiac and aortic surgery.
Successfully performing endoscopic (underarm) heart surgeries, which are available in only a limited number of centers in our country, Asst. Prof. Dr. Faruk Gençoğlu achieves effective and reliable results in valve and bypass surgeries performed without cutting the breastbone. He also performs cardiac surgery with the robotic Da Vinci system; thanks to the high precision and minimal tissue trauma offered by robotic surgery, he provides patients with faster recovery and a more comfortable postoperative period.
Evaluating surgical and endovascular methods together in the treatment of aortic diseases, Asst. Prof. Dr. Faruk Gençoğlu successfully performs EVAR (Endovascular Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair) and TEVAR (Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair) procedures, offering effective and safe treatment options to high-risk aortic patients through these individually planned minimally invasive interventions.
Since 2023, Asst. Prof. Dr. Faruk Gençoğlu has been serving his patients at the Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic of Hisar Hospital Intercontinental. Scientific approach, ethical values and patient safety are the core priorities of his professional work.
