About the Department
The scope, approach and highlighted services of the department.
Today, as a result of rapidly developing technologies and the development of new tests, laboratories have become an important part of the early diagnosis of diseases and of their accurate and effective treatment. The fundamental principle of our Clinical Laboratories is to provide laboratory services that comply with international standards by continuously updating the existing structure with technological advances.
Our laboratories aim to serve as models and references across all of their units, using the possibilities of medicine and technology in the most efficient way and through the good practices they implement.
- Clinical Biochemistry,
- Hematology,
- Microbiology,
- Parasitology,
- Immunology (Allergy),
- Serology (Hepatitis, AIDS, TORCH),
- Oncology (Cancer Screening Tests),
- Endocrinology (Hormone Tests).
In our laboratory units, environmental conditions that may affect analyses, such as temperature, humidity and ventilation, are maintained at optimum levels. Single-use (disposable) materials are used in all procedures to guard against the risk of infection. Blood collection procedures and all stages of analyses are carried out safely through barcode labeling. In our laboratory units, numerous biological samples such as blood, urine, stool, saliva, sweat, cerebrospinal fluid, synovial fluid and other body fluids, as well as solid tissues, are used to perform numerous chemical, biological, hematological and immunological tests, and bacteria, fungi, parasites and other microorganisms are detected through various analyses and cultures. With state-of-the-art equipment, many tests can be run simultaneously, and quality management principles are routinely applied in all processes. Certain special tests are performed at accredited domestic and overseas centers with which we have national and international agreements. In addition to the quality control studies carried out in our Clinical Laboratory department, and under the assurance of the national and international quality programs of which we are members, concentrations of routine and specific proteins, hormones, enzymes and other chemical compounds are measured for every type of disease, from cancer to diabetes; tests are finalized and approved accurately and quickly, and are reported and made available in the most appropriate manner.
Laboratory test reports provide great benefits to physicians in Check-up programs, in the prevention of diseases, in the differential diagnosis of diseases, in determining the most appropriate treatment, in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment, and in monitoring the disease.
In our laboratories,
1. In the diagnosis and treatment process of the disease, the most appropriate tests are performed. Our physicians never request unnecessary or excessive tests, and they explain to our patients that the tests required for an accurate diagnosis and correct treatment must certainly be performed.
2. Tests are accurately and quickly reported and made available.
3. In order to use technology in the best way in the service of medicine, devices and systems that are world references are used.
a) These are installed on a leased basis and are updated according to need.
b) Each device has a backup for emergency situations.
4. In our laboratories, for test measurements, we use chemical substances that are also world references, known as A-grade quality (Gold Standard) kits. These are products manufactured from highly pure substances, prepared automatically in a factory environment in special sealed packaging ready for testing, requiring no manual preparation, and therefore stable products that do not quickly lose their properties.
5. Quality is prioritized in all other auxiliary consumable materials used in laboratory units as well.
6. Samples to be used for laboratory tests;
a) Experienced and friendly laboratory staff provide service at the blood collection unit.
b) Required samples are collected at the most appropriate time and under suitable conditions.
c) These samples are delivered to the laboratory in accordance with transfer conditions, and are prepared for test analysis as soon as possible and under optimal conditions.
7. Tests are performed using automated devices under the supervision of specialists, by certified technicians who are experienced with the devices in the laboratory unit where they work.
8. Considering that each test is specific to the individual, all tests are carried out in a controlled and meticulous manner, and abnormal and critical results are consulted with the patient's primary physician.
9. Our laboratories serve not only all of our emergency, outpatient and inpatient patients at our hospital, but also patients coming from other hospitals, medical centers or private practices. Some tests that cannot be performed in other laboratories are also run in our hospital laboratories. For advanced analytical tests for research purposes, solutions are developed together with our business partner laboratories, both domestic and overseas, that are accredited.
